Bullying, hate and violence are a growing concern in our schools. Every day young people encounter or partake in bigotry, prejudice and discrimination. They can also be vulnerable to false information that encourages them towards extreme and dangerous views. Many young people feel disempowered in challenging these issues, yet there are things we can do and must do.
We at ZebraRed are a group of committed consultants who have first hand knowledge and experience of dealing with discrimination, hate crime and the dangers of involvement with extremist groups. Our team assists young people and those working with them to be less vulnerable to many of these difficult issues.
Our philosophy is based on respecting difference, equality and diversity, valuing fairness and encouraging active citizenship. Based on these principles, and supporting the Government’s Safer School Partnerships guidance, we can also structure specialist programmes for school/college staff members and school governors.
Violence, bullying and hate are complex issues and require adequate time to explore. Unlike some training organisations, we don’t provide brief and passive lectures as we believe they are often a waste of time for the students and do not provide value for money. What we do is to create an environment that is thoughtful, challenging and lively, and is framed around the issues that are important and real to young people.
